Bangkok 2005 Part 2a: Chatuchat

Before i start this entry proper, i have to give a shout out to Scott, who chose me to do this meme thing on his blog! Unfortunately i can't do it cos i've just started using iTunes and it's not everyday that i listen to music from my com so the results arn't that great... Back to the entry...

The next day, we woke up bright and early, went downstairs for the hotel's breakfast (the usual American breakfast) and set off for the famous weekend market via the BTS (Bangkok Train Station, not to be confused with Buangkok MRT station AKA white elephant).

The crowd overwhelmed, the heat stifled.

The sun whacking us mercilessly from above, and the crowds packed like sardines in the narrow lanes of the pasar malam-like stalls didn't inhibit our determination to shop! However, it was the increasing lack of anything to buy that did us in...

Soon, we were feeling quite tired and were about to leave when suddenly, out of nowhere, we stumbled upon a shop selling Bathing Ape stuff! Colin was squealing with joy and it rubbed off on me. Soon, we were just rummaging through the racks and grabbing everything we liked, cos it was like friggin cheap compared to clothes in here! And according to him, Bathing Ape is like THE original brand, while Slurping Ape is some copycat or sth... *Shrugs*

After our surprising find, we vowed to come back again on Sunday to try our luck trawling the stalls for good buys...

This time, we had the layout of Chatuchat pretty much covered, so we didn't need to waste any time exploring, and could dive straight in and shop!

I bought nice rope bracelets, a bag and second hand Nike shoes...

Colin bought a few of the local handicrafts, not including the one in the picture though... Should have bought that one cos it's quite cute isn't it? Just that it was still the first few days into our trip and we were a little concerned of overspending..

Afterwards, we had lunch at one of the roadside stalls and surprisingly, it was quite nice... But dunno why my noodles came abit cold... And there were cubes of pig's blood in it... You recall when we were very young it was everywhere in Singapore, but now it's nowhere to be found...

We were sitting beside these nice locals (i think) who helped us out, but i can't remember what was it that they helped us with... Haha... I think as we were taking the photo, something dropped and two of the women were distracted... *shrugs again*

After lunch it was more walking and shopping... And then walking somemore...

By the time we decided to leave the place, we were shagged out, to say the least...

Wait, what's in the background?

Goodness, look at the number of cars still at Chatuchat!

I AM SICK! (As in really, physically.)

And my parents are heartless, making me go all the way to Marsiling myself, cos the clinic below my house closes early on Fridays... I was weak and aching all over, running a temperature of 38.4 degrees... And i had to friggin WALK!

But i've got MC for 2 days! Which means i'll not go back to camp till the 2nd of January 2006! But i'll still have to stay at home for New Year... Sure, it beats being in camp on New Year's day, but it kinda sucks that i can't go out for countdowns...

Looks like i'll be staying home on the 31st counting down infront of the computor screen.. Heck, i'll even try registering for Singapore Idol, just to see if i'm the first 200 to register... Speaking of which, does anyone wanna go for the auditions together?

You know, just for the kicks...

*peers at kw jw mabs and colin, since alvin doesn't want to*

Bangkok 2005 Part 1

Bah! I've been procrastinating too much... *gives self a disgusted look*

I've been procrastinating so much that i kinda have blogger's block now... Shall just let all the pictures do the talking...

Look at that cheapo boarding pass! It looks more like a receipt. That's budget airlines for you man...

Excited! And also bewildered at how tiny the plane's interior was... I was sitting right at the back.

And there's the front! Small right?

Colin felt obligated to take a similar shot... Copycat!

And we're up! I like this shot...

The obligatory toilet pose... The toilet was, as is everything on the budget airline, tiny. The only movement i could have was rotating on the spot. But that might be because i'm fat. People like Colin might be able to do para para in there...

After we landed, it was a mad rush to our hotel... We joined the taxi queue, which was so long it could rival Wendy Cheng's MOS experience...

When I say long, I mean long.

After a wrong stop (we were like staring at this posh hotel and going "This totally cannot be what we paid for."), we finally reached the hotel and checked in without a hitch. This is the end of the part of the entry that has a chronological sequence to the pictures. Now comes the other mish mash of my trip.

I got a "poke" with my fried rice. *Ouch*

We ordered room service like 3-4 times throughout the stay. The food was not bad, and it sure beats eating along the roadside...

Instructions on how to get the paper towels to dry one's hands. I particularly liked the last sentence, "Then, gently snatch the paper out".

So oxymoronic! Can gently snatch one meh? Then can softly shout?

The next day we took the train to Chatuchat! The mecca of pasar malams!

I shall leave that for another day cos i'm quite tired and sianned of just brainlessly posting photos...

-----------------

Anyway, went to watch the 186 min movie, King Kong. It would be the best show i've watched this month.

I'd give it 7/10. Go catch it, and make sure to empty your bladder before the movie man... On second thoughts, don't bother cos you'll have an hour and a half's time after the movie starts to go. The big ape didn't appear in the movie until well into the movie, not that i'm criticising the show or anything...

And i'd give Chronicles of Narnia 5/10. I'm sorry but the show didn't live up to my expectations of it.

Next up, Geisha and DaVinci... Better be good... Or someone has to pay...

I'm not going to blog about Bangkok... Yet.

Meanwhile, went out with Colin on the 18th.

"Let's act cute!", i said.

We went down to Marina Square to try the famed Carl's Junior for the first time.

3 letters sum up our gut-busting adventure.

O M G

I'm sorry but i have to say that it was the most horridest experience i've had in a loooong time.

I made the mistake of changing the normal fries to this monstrosity called Beef Fries. I ended up with some super crispy rendang sticks. The fries were so hard they were like pencils while the beef sauce tasted funny.

And unfortunately, the Chilli Cheeseburger i got had the freaking same beef sauce in it. I nearly puked when i unwrapped the burger, looked at the sauce oozing out of it, looked down at my tray and seeing the same sauce that i've condemned smack in the middle of my fries.

I ended up having to swap burgers with Colin cos he didn't like his either. Both of us disliked each others burgers less, so we swapped. It was a win-win situation, even though we both lost.

After the meal, Colin complained that he felt like he just had too much Burger King. Suddenly, what do we see roaming around the mall?

Mega-gross BK mascots. Hello? How creative of them to just make giant fries, coke and burger walk around to promote for BK.

As if they weren't disturbing enough, i caught the burger checking the fries out.

Burger: "Miss Fries sure has sexy tights."
Coke: "Yea baby."
Fries: "giggle giggle"

I nearly puked out the meal i just had, not that it needed much effort to do so.

Using free net at airport to blog now...

It's like a tradition everytime i fly, to use the internet from the airport. I'm currently at Terminal 1, feeling bored, waiting to board the damned budget flight. I hope i have enough cash on me, and i hope that i've packed everything i need.

Actually, i think i packed everything i could possibly need, and more, for a 10 day trip to America...

And i'm only going to Bangkok. For 5 days.

I'm like the only one with luggage to check in. The others have no luggage. Whatever they need, they're gonna buy there. Gosh... I wish i had the ability to spend on whatever i want. Oh well, i'm traveling on my own budget this time, even though my parents really gave me quite alot of money.

Did i just contradict myself?

Blogging on a foreign keyboard while standing up is quite a chore so i'll stop now. Gonna be back on the 14th. Wish me safe trip ya'll.

Well, this is it... I'm flying off to the glorious land of tom yam in a few hours time. My phone has NO auto-roaming, so forget about contacting me. I'm lost to the world for 5 days! =p

And no, i'm not gonna come back a tranny, so dun even think about it.

Met up with Kinky KW and Juicy JW today... (don't ask me why i typed that...) We had dinner at Causeway Point's Gelare. *Urp* KW called it dessert. Wah lau, eat till wanna puke still dessert only.

It's been light years since i talked to JW, KW i talk till dun wanna talk already... Alvin was supposed to meet us, but he last min fever and pang sehed... Take care man, hope to meet up soon to chat!

Speaking of chatting, the three of us had such a great time chatting about rubbish... And not forgetting laughing freaking loudly at everything said. I think we have more fun sitting somewhere to crap rather than walking around, cos i enjoyed myself more sitting at Gelare and Macs (without buying anything) talking and laughing than walking around aimlessly, talking and laughing...

I miss the good old VS clique...

*pictures taken by my antique 7250i (i think, it's one of the very first cam phones), that's why quality like shite.
